Hi—Welcome to the Guestbook. I appreciate hearing from you, and thank those of you in the past who have taken the time to leave messages. I will respond periodically. Many of you have appreciated the quality of the web site itself, which feels very good since so much time and energy has gone into it. Others have commented favorably on recordings, live performances, or my lecture-demonstration on the psychology of improvisation. I’m touched that my work has meant something to you. I encourage you to sign up for my electronic newsletter, which has been going out about every 4-6 months (see Contact page) and allows me to comment in detail on recent activities.

My best to you all,
Denny

Hey Denny-- I just got a copy of "Solo Voyage" which knocked me out. Deep stuff, man, and your exploration of "Quiet Now" tops any version I've ever heard, including all those Bill Evans records.

I've been a big fan ever since having been turned on to your records as a Berklee student in the '80's...
I remember the elation after having finally tracked down 'Zeitgeist' at a new & used record store in Boston.
Thanks for the continued inspiration!

Driving late last night I "bounced" into some kind of far-out radio station that played a tune from your "Expansion" album from the early seventies. Absolutely wild stuff-- you must have been using 4 arms and 4 legs. My turntable is dead-- when are you going to release that on CD??

Hi-- Your rendition of "What is this Thing Called Love" at the Berlin Jazz Festival is amazing. What a super video.
The other videos are special, too. Many thanks.

Got your "Slickrock" CD and it flashed me back to Moab and earlier times back in the seventies on Mt. Tam where you live. I see from your Gallery that you and your wife ride Cunninghams. Great bikes & great music!!

Hello Denny-- I'm sorry if I sound gushy, but I had to leave you this message after hearing your epic version of "Quiet Now" on your "Solo Voyage" CD. Utterly haunting and probing, and it continues to sound within me. It brings tears.

Hey Denny-- I caught you at the Bakery last fall, and as always, was knocked out by you and the trio. I saw that you were recording. Sure hope there'll be a live CD out soon.

Hello-- I just discovered that you were the composer and performer of the music for the Sesame Street numbers series back in the seventies. I grew up hearing you with Grace Slick singing the numbers. Unforgettable videos!!

MESSAGE FROM DENNY ZEITLIN:

Hi--Welcome to a new version of the Guestbook.

My apologies to those of you who posted a message between December, 2006 and April, 2007. Because of hackers and spam, those messages were temporarily lost. They are posted in this new version, along with all the others going back to August, 2005. Though on first glance they all appear to have been posted on the same day in May, 2007, the actual posting dates appear in brackets just before the message.

My thanks to all of you who have taken the time to leave messages in the Guestbook. I wish I could find more time to respond. Many of you have appreciated the quality of the web site itself, which feels very good since so much time and energy has gone into it. Others have commented favorably on recordings, live performances, or my lecture-demonstration on the psychology of improvisation. I'm touched that my work has meant something to you. I am in the process of updating the website, and you'll find new videos posted throughout, and soon an update in the "News" section. I also invite you to sign up for my electronic newsletter, which has been going out about every 4-6 months (see Contact page). After a busy summer and fall concert schedule, I have been focusing this winter on composition, and working in my electronic studio. I performed a solo piano concert in the Chicago area a few weeks ago, and some summer festival possibilities and fall trio plans are beginning to gel for the East, Mid-West, and West Coast.

My best to you all,

Denny

"Love Theme from Invasion of the Body Snatchers"!!??? You're right, it is a 'wonderfully preposterous title'.
But the music was hauntingly beautiful, and the rest of the program was equally stunning. You turned that piano into a full orchestra Please come back to the Chicago area soon.
